Jellyfish are invading the Sea Of Japan.

CNN.com reported that giant Nomura jellyfish are drifting in to the Sea Of Japan from the Yellow Sea and causing fishermen problems. The jellyfish destroy fishermen’s nets by getting trapped in them, tearing holes and ruining catches.

From the article:

The massive sea creatures, called Nomura’s jellyfish, can grow 6 feet (1.83 meters) in diameter and weigh more than 450 pounds (204 kilos).

The article doesn’t say whether or not they sting or…eat people for breakfast!

Special care is given to around 15,000 green and hawksbill baby turtles hatched and housed at the navy’s conservation center each year. Once the baby turtles’ shells are big and strong enough to protect them from various predators at about six-months-old the young turtles are released to the sea. Picture taken June 17, 2009.
